The Orland High School Media Center is an all-round Information, Technology and Media Resource and Library Center for students and staff. A welcoming common space that encourages exploration, creation, and collaboration between students, teachers and a broader community. This brings together the best of the physical and digital means to create learning hubs. Ultimately, the library can inspire students to construct new knowledge and meaning from the world around them.
Students have access to over 10,000 printed titles for recreational reading, current magazines, along with the latest information and technologies. Access to creating
multi-media reports and projects using
WeVideo, and
Green screen technologies and full-text periodical databases.
The Library makes extensive use of computer-based technology, with an online library catalog for easy book searches and student reviews also to include a platform Database called Collections for storing student work and interests. Each student has their own individual account on our server to access Google Drive for student class work and productivity software as well as several State provided research databases.
Each student has access to Clever Portal allowing use for Curriculum and Core Applications, Resources and Research to include Flip Grid, Britannica School, Gale, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Help Now with Live Tutoring.
The Media Center is open daily from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. During class time, individual use requires a pass from the student's teacher. This space is accessible before school, during student lunch and after school and provides students with a safe place and time to socialize.
