Prerequisite:
Grades 9-12 and selection with instructor approval
Length:
1 Year
Course content: The Trojan Band is the performing instrumental musical organization of Orland High School. The Trojan Band includes the concert band, marching band and pep band. The members of this group are expected to practice individually outside of class at least one and one-half hours weekly, attend extra-curricular practices and to be present at all performances, of which there are many. This group performs at all home football games, at about 4 parades each year, and at 2 seasonal concerts. This is an approved VPA course.

CONCERT CHOIR

Course content: This chorus is a group of mixed voices, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. This course introduces students to high school level voice techniques, music fundamentals, ear training, and sight singing skills necessary for participation in choir ensembles. Students are expected to participate in scheduled concerts and any extra-curricular rehearsals.

CHAMBER SINGERS

Grades 9-12

1 Year
Course content: This choir is the top group, made up of individuals who meet the standard required for this group. The music sung will be a more advanced level. Students in this group must be able to match pitch and have good control of their voices. This course includes the study of music theory, ear training, and sight singing as well. Students are expected to participate in scheduled concerts and any extra-curricular rehearsals. This is an approved "VPA" course.
