Course Requirement:

Course content: Students will develop typing skills using computer guided software. Accuracy, speed, and correct technique will be stressed during the year. Students will use computers and Microsoft Office 2007 software for word processing, presentation, and data base/spreadsheet creation. "Real life" skills will be stressed during the course. Students will also be introduced to the history of technology, basic computer parts, the Windows operating system(s), Internet browser use and research skills and e-mail. Successful completion of this class will prepare students to pass the digital high school technology exit exam required for graduation. A Certificate of Proficiency will be given to successful students.

Course Content: This course combines classroom and jobsite training for entry-level retail and sales-related jobs. Emphasis is placed on learning by doing. Areas of instruction will include: career awareness, merchandising math, selling, register and cash handling training, promotion, communications and additional retail-related topics. Business attitudes, work habits and attendance are an important part of the instruction.

Course Content: This course is designed to provide students with computer, writing, editing, research, and publishing skills used in creating business designs. The course will provide students with skills used in creating Web pages suitable for publishing via the Internet, Students will use various software forms; Word Web Design, Desktop Publisher, Front Page, Or Dreamweaver MX to create Web pages. HTML skills will be used to debug, modify, and edit Web pages.

Course content: This course is designed to educate students on the fundamentals of Internet and database programming and the necessary skills to pursue academic and professional opportunities. This course is centered in a traditional classroom while simultaneously exposing students to the latest in electronic technology learning. Instruction includes business analysis, relational database modeling, structured query language, and Java programming.
This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions in the computer programming or Information Technology industry. Integrated throughout the course are industry preparation standards that include academic skills, data analysis communication, problem solving, workplace safety, technology and employment literacy. Students receive up to 360 hours of classroom instruction and may include an additional 360 hours of Community Classroom and/or Cooperative Vocational Educational experience. Oracle Certified Associate Status will be granted to individuals passing the certification exam.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Small Business Development

Course Content: This course is focused on independent introduction to entrepreneurship and basic business principles. Students learn how to become employees and also how to start and operate a small business. They will learn the basic fundamentals of business operations that will provide them with a definite advantage over other candidates in the job market who do not know these skills. This course also addresses areas of personal life skills, economics and can also help in the student's preparation for their senior project. Guest speakers reinforce the class structure in student development as an employed member of society, and a contribution to their local community. The student assignment of writing a business plan is a realistic way to prepare the student to learn how to balance a personal and business checking account maintain bank accounts, and learn how to promote themselves in preparation for employment. Part of the learning process may include field trips.
